Architectural practice FRES Architects have completed a social housing building in Béthune, France.
The building is located along two roads. Structured in four floors, plus two extra on the angle of the two boulevards.
The project is surrounded by heterogeneous elements dating back from the 70′s.
There is a gap on the first floor that gives a certain rythm to the facade and allows a large collective terrace. The facades have composed from a unique material: black bricks. Yellow framed window openings in varying sizes create a playful contrast between their transparency and the opacity of black bricks.
