The Japanese performance duo combining digital projections with Japanese culture and martial arts…
The collaborative project of artist Nobuyuki Hanabusa and dancer Katsumi Sakakura uses digital projections besides the mixture of street dance, martial arts, and Japanese iconography and their performance is simple and powerful at the same time. To create this successful work, Hanabusa recorded Sakahura’s performance and analysed the dance step by step for reflecting graphics in the correct position. At the end, Katsumi’s movements interact with projected objects around him. At one point, stage wall smashes into a thousand pieces.
The duo is very successful and the concept was borrowed by the likes of Beyonce-especially for 2011 Billboard Awards performance- and Lorella Cuccarini.
Black Sun, paying homage to ancient traditions and sources of inspirations, is the love of art itself!
