Chilean architecture practice 01 arq has recently completed the ‘Lucernas House’ in the small farming town of Catemito, Chile.
The plan is composed of shifted rectangular masses. Linear configuration of dwelling provides circulation. Windows are designed like large light-wells that extend views to the landscape and also illuminate the interior laterally and from overhead that helps to ventilate the dwelling in the hot summer months.
The structure is made of reinforced stone masonry, painted dark grey on the exterior to blend more naturally into its agricultural surroundings.
The open-plan white interior is composed of large sliding glass doors which divides private and public spaces when needed.
