The CryENGINE is a highly advanced development solution for the creation of blockbuster games, movies, high-quality simulations and interactive applications by using its Sandbox world editing system and Software Development Kit.

The development of CryENGINE 1 took place in parallel to the development of Crytek’s first AAA game,Far Cry, between 2001 and 2004. The most important achievements that Crytek made with CryENGINE 1 are the Sandbox editor, real-time lighting, photo-real vegetation and high fidelity physics and AI. It also supports real time per-pixel lighting& High Dynamic Range Engine (up to 2km), bumpy reflections, volumetric glow effects, shinny surfaces and many more. The AI System of CryENGINE®1 enables team based AI and AI behaviors defined by scripts.
As seen on the PC games Far Cry and Aion Online, the CryENGINE 1 was a huge impact in the gaming scene!
After the great success of CryENGINE powered Far Cry, the CryTEK unleashed their new high-tech beast again with additional state of-the-art features like bump mapping, dynamic lights, integrated physics system, dynamic music system and a magnificent feature of High Quality 3D Ocean Technology! The bump mapping feature was created by the Polybump 2, which creates a high quality surface description that allows quick extraction of surface features… Thus, a very high polygon counts (e.g. 10 million triangles) are processed quite quickly. CryENGINE 2 has a flexible and easily customizable AI system which has a Dynamic Path Finding feature too.
And finally, the CryENGINE 3, The Complete Game Development Solution
As their saying, “CryENGINE 3 is the fastest high-end renderer in the world, with new features specifically designed for PC, Xbox 360 and Playstation 3.” Benchmark-setting graphical performance, near-photorealism in indoor and wide-open outdoor environments and extra-ordinary real-time special effects are some of the hallmarks of CryENGINE technology.
