“Miracle in the Desert,” Taliesin West by HDR Architecture with Bamboo Bakery

How about a bit of architecture eye candy for you? Literally. This month, Frank Lloyd Wright’s acclaimed Arizona Biltmore Resort in Phoenix played host to a holiday gingerbread house competition,“Miracle on 24th Street,” to benefit the state’s Make-A-Wish Foundation chapter. The aptly chosen theme of the contest was“Frank Lloyd Wright Building” in honor of the 75th year of the architect’s Taliesin West property in Scottsdale. The structural confections were on display in the hotel’s lobby for guests to place bids in a silent auction. All proceeds went to the charity’s local chapter.
