A house is built for a collector to demonstrate his collection. The client wants a house displaying the special collection and being a “home” at the same time. The house is on a beautiful area, has a sense of security, shows the collection best.
Putting all these requests into practice was not difficult but funny according to the Architect Moon Hoon. He designed a house for a man visiting his office with his wife and child: “Conan House”
The location of the house is an area beside a lake in Bangdong, South Korea. This place has a great nature attracting tourists. To Hoon, the area on which he designed the house is cut out for an artistic architecture.
The house, also known as “Toy House”, reflects it difference with its facade. The facade is made from a white material- on each wall these outlines are repeatedly scaled down and recessed until they form windows in the centre.
The house designed by Moon Hoon belongs to a TV producer wanting to display his collection that he has collected for many years.
Hoon created square niches in the railings that surround the central staircase to display the best objects in the client’s collection.
Lots of materials are stored on the wooden bookcases in the basement of the stairwell. This place is a study area at the same time.
The rooms, bathrooms and playgrounds contribute to the house with a sincere atmosphere. The house is a masterpiece thanks to the artistic and functional character.
