Pestana CR7 Funchal located in Portugal’s Madeira was opened with the Pestana Hotels and Cristiano Ronaldo partnership. Despite its luxury feel and its facilities, the hotel is surprisingly affordable with standard guest rooms beginning at £184 per night.
The 48-room Pestana CR7 is partially-owned by the Real Madrid footballer, who grew up where the hotel is based in Funchal, Madeira. It has plenty of sports memorabilia on display, with Ronaldo’s shirts, trophies, and trainers dotted around the hotel.
Pestana CR7 is 20 minutes away from the Cristiano Ronaldo Airport formerly known as Santa Catarina Airport. When entered the hotel, the guests meet a sleek decorated lobby. After taking a private elevator, they walk along a corridor carpeted to look like a football field to get to their rooms. Ronaldo is also there to greet guests.
Guests preferring a standard CR Room, which starts from £184 per night. As well as the usual amenities, all rooms feature 48-inch HD TVs, in-room yoga mats, and mood lighting. Those who upgrade to a CR Superior Room, which costs from £231 per night, can recharge their devices with USB plugs and enjoy views of the harbour and bay from their window.
The most expensive room available, the CR7 Suite costing £580 per night is the most expensive room atthe hotel containing a living room and two HD TVs, as well as the best view.In the bathroom there is a mirror having the shapeof Ronaldo’s sunglasses and the guests can have a bath in that bathroom which is like a football field.
The football theme continues in the communal areas, for instance there is Ronaldo’s favourite quote illuminated on the wall of the lounge and the bar: “To be the best, you need the best”.
There is also an open-air gym and a rooftop infinity pool with sea views, a Jacuzzi, and sauna at the hotel. The guests can visit a museum dedicated to Ronaldo right next door during their visit.
